Michelle Fraser

The Tranquility Doula

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am beyond grateful that you are here!

My journey into birth work began when I was in high school, trying to decide what I wanted to be “when I grew up”.  Looking back, I have always loved children, especially little ones.  Being the oldest of 5 siblings, taking care of my younger brother and sisters was just part of who I was.  This led to many babysitting jobs and then contemplating my future career path.  I found something that I had written about my plans post-high school…I wanted to be an obstetrical nurse or an elementary teacher.

Fast forward more than 25 years, I have been teaching Kindergarten and elementary children for what seems like forever.  The school I went to as a child and the classroom I attended kindergarten in has become my second home.  I have been blessed to watch so many children come to school for the first time as timid 3, 4  or 5-year-olds and then graduate high school strong, independent young adults.  I consider my students “my kids” and become very attached to each and every one of them.  Not a day goes by at school without hugs and unconditional love from all of my students.  My life as a teacher has been so fulfilling and I wouldn’t have changed it for anything.

My career path took the inevitable shift to birth work in the winter of 2022 when my oldest daughter became pregnant.  If you ask any of my 3 grown children what my plan was when I was done teaching, they would tell you I wanted to be a doula.  I’m not even sure when I first heard the word “doula”, but after discovering what a doula is and reading and learning more about this work, I knew that this was what else I was meant to do in my life.  Maybe not an obstetrical nurse, but even better in my opinion! My chance to fulfill the second part of my career path.

So, I took my birth doula course in the spring of 2022 and began my journey as a doula.  I have been blessed to support many families during their pregnancy and birth experiences in the last year, including the birth of my first granddaughter, and I can not wait to continue on my new journey.

I am truly passionate about birth and birthers, and I am committed to equipping new parents with all the knowledge they need to advocate for themselves and have the best possible pregnancy, birth and early parenting experience.

I am so looking forward to meeting and working with you!

My precious granddaughter.
